Clare Press is the founder of THE WARDROBE CRISIS. A Sydney-based sustainability communicator, filmmaker, author and presenter, she created the Wardrobe Crisis podcast in July 2017. Clare also produces and co-hosts the Ethical Fashion podcast with UN officer Simone Cipriani.

Globally, Clare was the first ever VOGUE Sustainability Editor (Vogue Australia, 2018-2020) - a pioneering role in international media.

She was also the first Global Ambassador for the Ellen MacArthur Foundation’s Make Fashion Circular initiative, and has been a member of Australian advisory board of Fashion Revolution since 2014. She sits on Copenhagen Fashion Week’s Advisory Board, and is part of Fashion Roundtable in the UK. In 2019, she won the a Sustainability Champion Award from the New South Wales government.

An international speaker, Clare has moderated events and delivered talks in nine countries. She regularly appears on radio and TV news sharing sustainable fashion insights.

Clare studied politics at Sheffield University, and began writing for Rolling Stone before moving into fashion magazines, including stints as a Vogue features director and a writer for Marie Claire. Her Sustainable Style column ran on Sydney Morning Herald’s Daily Life for two years, and Clare’s byline has appeared in: The Guardian, The Times (UK), Vogue Italia, AnOther, Nylon, Harper’s Bazaar, Elle, Fashionista, Business of Fashion and more. She has interviewed everyone from Beyoncé and Pharrell to Patagonia founder Yvon Chouinard.

Her fourth book, WEAR NEXT, Fashioning the Future (Thames & Hudson) was published in Australia in October 2023, and the UK in February 2024. Previous titles include Wardrobe Crisis, How We Went From Sunday Best to Fast Fashion (Nero), and Rise & Resist, How to change the world (Melbourne University Press).
